OK, so Mum very politely pointed out that I do actually have a maternal side of the family as well (I've only put Dads side of the family on here so far...oops), so here's a photo of my Mum, Julia, and her brother, Piers, on their boat in the West Indies, were they grew up. The boat was called the Mona Lisa.

My Creative Space...
My creative space this week is a bit more interesting than last weeks. Hopefully I'll be putting together some more zippered pouches...everything's ready so what can possibly stop me??
My pile of hexagons has been steadily growing so I might turn some of them into tiny pin cushions. I wasn't going to make these for my (not yet open) shop, but I've had a little bit of interest for them so I think I will. How do you figure out how much to sell something like this for? I mean, they take hardly any fabric so it's mostly labour cost I guess...they take about 3 or 4 hours each to make. Any suggestions?
Check out what lots of other crafty people are doing today at Kootoyoo (thanks Kirsty!)

Handbag clean out
I haven't cleaned out my handbag for months so this morning I tipped it up onto the table and was amazed with all the crap in it! No wonder I can never find anything.
Besides my wallet, glasses, bag of essentials (sunscreen, tissues, bandaids etc) was:
3 hats
3 pairs of kids undies
My sewing bag (lots of hexagons in there)
1 library book
1 pair kids dirty socks
1 kids headband
3 reusable shopping bags
2 notebooks
3 kids toys
Natalie Merchant CD (thanks Mum)
4 pens/pencils/crayons
1 Sesame Snap
2 Muesli Bars
and various receipts, rubbish, used tissues etc...gross
It feels much lighter now.

A few things...
I have to show you what Ella had for breakfast on her birthday the other week. Porridge with 'birthday sprinkles'. A great example of how to easily turn healthy food into not so healthy!
I haven't been doing a whole heap of sewing lately because I've been trying to get my Made It shop and my Etsy shop ready for launch. Getting there, it gets a bit tedious doing all the policies and profile. Yesterday was my sister-in-law's birthday so made these luggage tags and a passport holder for her. She goes overseas at least once a year so they should come in handy.
Today I sat down and thought about packaging for the stuff I'm going to sell. I made these swingy tags to attach. I have heaps of scrap booking paper so am putting it to good use and printing on the back of it then cutting it out and rounding off the corners...easy! I'll attach them with yarn out of my stash. Now I just need to get some sort of business card to put in with the order and I think I'm set.
And one last photo of what my sisters house is called...for all the Dr Who fans out there.

Forebear Friday
This one's in honour of ANZAC day.
I haven't done much research on Bert, but he served in the defence force (not sure which one) and died in 1915 during WWI. He is a Great Uncle or Cousin or something I think. There was a little note written about him from another relative in a letter sent to my Great Grandmother, it says "Isn't it sad poor old Bert got killed. It was for a grand cause and some of us have to go under and I hope with a smile when it does come." The man who wrote this came back alive.

My Creative Space...
Here's an update on last weeks creative space...I might pick it up again in a few weeks, but most likely it will just go into the scrap fabric pile to use for something else.
What I want to be doing today is making more of these...
...what I need to do today is clean the kids rooms...how do they get like this??
Hope your all going to have a more creative day then me. Check out all the creativeness at Kooyotoo.

Random dog photo...not crafty at all
Haven't had time today to take any photos of the stuff I've been making so thought I'd post a photo of what Wicket was busy doing this morning.
Hope you're all having a lovely Tuesday.

Fairy birthday party....done
We had Ella's fourth birthday party yesterday. Invitations went out, then I didn't do much at all until about 3pm the day before...oops. Never mind, I'm a pro at the last minute rush.
Party bags...I got the bag idea from Martha Stewart (I only had white bags so painted another bag green for each one), then made some origami boxes for the lollies, some hair ties and some notebooks, added some bubbles and a crayon and a little thank you note and they were done.
Ella wore her fairy wings that I made. I did have to convince her to put on the rest of the outfit, she came out of her bedroom with just the wings on, but once I told her that we didn't actually invite any nudey rudey fairys she put her skirt and top on.
We played stick the horn on the unicorn.
And all the fairies jumped on the trampoline which, as Shane put it, looked a lot like the butterfly enclosure at Coffs Harbour what with all the fairies in their wings and pink tule...very cute.
There was lots of fairy food.
And what would a fairy party be without lots of pink.
All I can say is I'm glad its over, phew!

I got My Pin Cushion!
Thank you Stephanie (Moobear Designs) for sending me the best pin cushion package ever! (minus the 80's fluro one...that was a joke!)
I got a gorgeous round pin cushion made from scraps of my favourite colour red fabric, love the birds and the shade of red is perfect. It's even got my name embroidered onto it! Stephanie also made a small brooch from the scraps of the scraps, very cute.
The fluro pin cushion was Stephanie's little joke because I said "I like most colours just stay away from 80's fluro", so what did she do...yep, made me an 80's fluro pin cushion...the cheek!! Luckily she made it so you could hide most of the fluro fabric if need be...phew.
And here's the 80's fluro one with the fabric tucked away, hopefully never to be seen again! (Although Ella's taken quite a liking to it so I don't think it will stay like this for long)
Thanks again Stephanie!! (I tried to email you but it bounced back, will try again later)
And thanks to Kate for organising it all, you've done a fantastic job!

This is my Nanny, Marjorie (front left), who left school at 12 to become a seamstress. This must have been the other girls she worked with in the bodice room. Taken in 1920 when she was 16.

My creative space...
Yesterday I cut up an old t-shirt of Shanes, so today I'm going to try and finish it. It's my first attempt at refashioning a t-shirt so wish me luck! Hope you are having a creative day as well.

Seventh Wedding Anniversary
Today at 7:30 in the morning me and Shane got married.
I've still got my wedding shoes and wear them quite often.
Everyone bought a flower from home and a friend bunched them up before the ceremony and gave them to me. They worked out pretty well.
We had blueberry muffins because it was a breakfast wedding. These were for after the bacon, eggs and fried tomatoes...yum.
All in all a great day.

Easter Show
Well, we survived the show, came home with both kids and I even spent some time in the craft pavilion...yay me!
I just had my phone camera, so scuse the 'sometimes not so good' photos. I didn't want to bore you with a thousand photos so I put these mosaics together just so you get a glimpse. If you want a bigger view just click on the mosaic.
Ok, so we visited some animals...
...yep, did you see what I saw? A cow with a heart on its bottom!! That's actually poo that he's sat on and printed a heart shape on his ass, how great is that! Let me give you a better view...
The people looking after the cows were wondering what I was taking a photo of, I'm sure they would have figured it out though once they had a look.
We also watched a bit of wood chopping, Ella got her diego show bag and kept running up and down the craft aisles dressed as Diego, we saw Robosaurus, and what does every kid need at 10pm on the train on the way home but fairy floss!
OK, so here's the bit that you are probably all most interested in, the craft. I took photos of the things that I liked the best or that just caught my eye, hope you enjoy.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend, and just for road, here's that great bit of cow love once more...

Don't you love pressies!
My sister came back from holidays and I went down to visit yesterday and she gave me this from a little shop in the Blue Mountains, very nice.
Then we had these for lunch...
...that's a lot of pizza, and how much did it cost??
$24 from a lovely little lebanese bakery, such good value!
Well today we are off to the Easter Show. All I'm hoping for is to come back with the same kids we left with and maybe see some craft.

This is my Grandfather, James William, who I never got the privilege to meet. I think we would have called him Pop. He died in 1959 when my Dad was 18 years old.

Library bag, Lego and swap (oh my)...or my creative space
We needed a new family library bag and I have a ton of this hessian from my SILs birthday party a few years ago, so I added some red and white polka dots (can't go wrong with them) and made one. We usually get about 20 books so it had to be big and solid which it is...ask the sewing machine
We all watched James May's Toys the other night, the one with the huge Lego house. Joe got the bug and straight away made a small version with a light (iphone) on the roof, so clever. It even had a little table and chairs inside.
Here's a sneak peek at the pin cushion I've made for Fox's Lane Pin Cushion Swap. Hope my swap partner likes it!

What does every girl need?
A bubble skirt of course!
I needed to make a gift for a nearly one year old and couldn't go past this cute tutorial for a very easy reversible bubble skirt, Turned out really well. It's a bit small for model Ella (she's nearly 4) but I had to fight to get it off her. These are the best photos I could get from the photo shoot.
Here are the rest of the photos.
