Feliz Dress

I'm a bit addicted to sewing clothes from my new book. This is my latest effort, the Feliz Party Dress.

I just did it out of a couple of old sheets.

It'll be a nice summer dress, it's very light and soft. I did the 3-4 size and the fit is really good.

Hope you're all having a nice Tuesday. xx

How do you do it?

How does everyone (who has a blog and reads blogs) keep up with it all?

I find I'm always so behind at keeping up with all the blogs I like to read. In a perfect world I'd love to read and comment on about 45 blogs a day, but that's just not possible. Do I cull the list? But then I might miss something brilliant. Do I just read and not comment? But then how do they know I'm still reading.

I've already cut down on the number of comments I reply to.

What do you do?

I know a couple of people who's blogs I read have had this issue in the past and I've read about it but I'm not sure how they sorted it all out so thought I'd ask for myself.

In between keeping up with all these great blogs, I have a family that needs attention and a house to keep spotless tidy liveable (my standards have dropped somewhat after having children), Etsy and madeit shops to attend to and hobbies I'd like to do.

Any tips?

Dortje Trousers

I know I said I was going to make the Riviera Leggings next, but I was desperate to try these, they look so gorgeous in the book.

They're a bit big. ..I did the size 5-6 for Ella who's 4.

I just used fabric I had on hand and used up some scraps. Kate (Dash Robin), do you recognise the green crochet flower?

They were so fun to make...I covered up a couple of mistakes with trim.

I might try a size smaller soon maybe with some old denim.

I want a pair for myself now.

My Creative Space...

You know the other day I was asking for book recommendations...well I decided on one and got it a couple of days ago.

I decided on this one in the end and I'm glad cause I love it!

Yesterday I made this for Joe. I haven't made all that many clothes so thought I'd better start with something simple and then move onto the harder stuff.

I made it with polar fleece because I had some and it's stretchy. It turned out ok.

Joe likes it because when he wear's it he has flames on his bottom. He asked for the pointy hood.

It's the first time I've done reverse applique which I've discovered is really fun.

My next project will be the Riviera Leggings out of one of these (or both). Wish me luck.

Off the topic of being creative....I just got a phone call from one of my neighbours and got told off for there being a ball in her backyard! Apparently she want's us to go and collect them straight away if one goes over OR to ban ball games in our backyard! The cheek! It's not my fault that she's going to get a hip replacement replaced today...she doesn't have to take all her nerves out on me!

Oh for a rural block with loads of space.

My Creative Space...

For a while now I've been thinking I need a nice Chicken Willow stamp to put on my packages and when I discovered that Chantal (my third cousin) does lino printing and can carve a good stamp I asked her to make me one.

Isn't it fantastic!! I went to my local scrapbooking shop this morning and got some nice dark brown ink for it.

I did three prints without re-inking it and I just got three different shades of brown. I like them all. So my day will be spent mucking around with this and maybe making some swing tags with it.

I can highly recommend Chantal's stamp carving abilities if you are in the market for one!

A parenting course. Or at least that's what I thought it was...

...I have no idea what my husband was thinking while he was sitting in the course, but I found this just the other day when I was cleaning out the bookshelf (we did the course about 4 years ago), no wonder we didn't get much out of it.

Here's the notes I took...you don't have to read them, but you get the idea.

And now these are the notes that my husband took..
