A lovely prize

Last week I won a wonderful prize on Kate's blog (dash robin design). Such a great package, I'm stoked.

Ella's had the two brooch's on since the package arrived this morning, they are so sweet.

I haven't read 'My Place' so that will be next in my reading pile and the little pouch is going to be used to carry my phone and wallet to pick the kids up from school.

Thanks again Kate, I love it! xx

Forebear Friday

Here's a photo of my Grandmother, Marjorie (in the middle) with her brother and sister, Jack and Dorothy. It would have been taken around 1910 in Melbourne.

I'm off to enjoy my Birthday, hope you have a lovely day as well. xx

My Creative Space...

A few weeks ago I told you all that I was knitting a unicorn. Well, I finished a while ago but just never got round to taking photos until this morning.

She's been named Smelly because apparently she won't let Ella give her a bath.

When I introduced her to Ella it was definitely not love at first sight like I'd hoped. Here's how it went:

I'd finished Smelly late one night and was planning on giving her to Ella the next day but when Ella woke up having had a bad dream at about 3am I said "Maybe you need a Unicorn to sleep with" and Ella nodded her head so I went to get the unicorn and I gave it to Ella. When she saw it she said "That's a donkey...and it's brown".

I'm putting it down to being pretty dark in the room at the time.

Anyway, since then they have fallen in love and sleep together every night.

An Etsy Treasury

Wren Willow has included one of my iPad sleeves in this gorgeous treasury. It's my first time in a treasury! The other stuff in it is just lovely. To see the full size version click here.

Etsy

I've been thinking of starting an Etsy store for a little while now so on the weekend I got sorted and made some extra iPad sleeves and put them on my new Etsy shop. I couldn't believe it when a few hours later three of them had sold!! I was imagining they'd just sit there for a while and I'd have time to stock the shop up before I told anyone about it. I haven't had time to make any more so I just ended a few that were on my Madeit shop and put them onto my Etsy shop to bulk it up a bit. Anyway, I've added a link to the new shop over in my sidebar.

Now what I want to know is, those of you who sell on Etsy...what's the next step. What are these Street Teams. Is there any other way you get involved in Etsy? Any tips or tricks for a new user...it's all a bit overwhelming.

I have to say that I think madeit is much more user friendly but Etsy seems to have more 'accessories' to it which I haven't delved into yet.

Sunday Hailstorm

It was lovely and sunny on Sunday...there were a few clouds in the sky but we decided to go for a bushwalk anyway...

...and then it started raining...

...then hailing! We hid under some trees when it started hurting.

Then my glasses snapped...what else could go wrong?

I did manage to see some nice things though.

Saturday Mudfight

Yesterday was such a nice day that the kids got to strip off and play outside with mud. They made a boogie board mud slide...

and got very dirty...

...the laundry didn't come off so well but at least the kids were playing nicely together.

Hope you're all having a nice weekend. xx

Forebear Friday

Just keeping with the Bondi theme from last week, here's a photo of Bondi Beach back in the 1930's. It sure has changed a lot hasn't it.

My Creative Space...

The time has come to get rid of the kid's night nappies in our house so I was looking around for mattress protecters during the week, you know the ones you can just put on top of the sheets and if they have an accident just take them off and the kids can get straight back into bed. Gosh they're expensive! They cost around $40 each, so that wasn't going to work. Anyway I looked around some more on the internet and found this tutorial to make your own...I just needed to get some PUL fabric which I found at a bargain price of $19.80 for 2 meters from here (it's on special at the moment which was good timing).

So my mission today is to make some of these and start using them tonight. I'm using some old cotton sheets for the top layer and an old cotton blanket for the absorbent layer in the middle.

I even did a test run and I'm impressed, it worked really well. Wish me luck.

I need book ideas

It's my birthday in a few weeks and I'm going to buy myself a sewing book (I have none) so I need some ideas.

I think I want one with patterns in it more than a 'how to' book but I'm pretty open minded.

So could you please tell me your favourite sewing book so I get some ideas.

Thanks. xx

Fabric storage basket

It was my lovely sister's birthday on the weekend so I made her a storage basket from this tutorial.

It kind of goes with her living room colour scheme.

You've probably seen me use that embroidered fabric before (this was the last of it), it was a skirt I picked up at an op shop. The paisley was also from an op shop, there was a few meters of it so I'll make an iPad sleeve or two from the rest of it.

The pink on the bottom is an Ikea fabric.

Hope you all had a great weekend. xx

Forebear Friday

Here's one that's a bit more recent. About 1975 at North Bondi pool. Me with my Grandmother, Marjorie, or Nanny as we called her. We spent a lot of time here growing up.
