My Creative Space...

I'm dropping in my sewing machine today for a service because it's been playing up a bit over the last few days so I won't be doing any machine sewing till I get it back next week. So instead of using my machine I've been hand stitching this.

My MIL asked me to make a cover for a book that she uses every day.

I just sandwiched a stiff interfacing between two op-shoped fabrics and blanket stitched round the edges. I did iron that pink gingham, not sure what happened there. I'll need to give it another iron I think.

Anyway, hopefully now it will last her a few more years to come.

For other creativeness go to Kootoyoo (thanks Kirsty).

Hannah, I love this. And there is something so touching about making a cover for a book that is clearly treasured. She's lucky to have such a thoughtful, creative daughter in law!

that's just gorgeous. I love the little extra touch of the heart and using pink thread on the brown.

It's very pretty, great fabrics together. I think it's so special when someone asks you to make something because they know you'll do something great with it. :)

Looks beautiful. The fabric is perfect because it seems soft and homey and goes with a book that looks very well loved! xo m.

There seems to be a lot of machines getting serviced in blogland and it is forcing some amazing creativity! I’m sure your Mother in law is going to treasure this.

Hannah that is lovely, your MIL is going to love it. It is so much more personal with the hand stitching and sometimes it's quicker. I hand stitched my fabigami flower needle case and it was much quicker than dragging out and setting up the machine :-)

Lovely fairy blanket stitchery. And are you trying to tell me that one of these days my sewing machine might just benefit from a trip to the doctor? Ahem.
