RIP Redback

Now, don't get me wrong, I actually like spiders. I usually leave them alone all over the house because they get rid of a lot of the mozzies and flies and things, but while I was sweeping the front verandah this morning I came across this soon-to-be-a-mother Redback (couldn't get her red stripe in the photo). That's her egg sack she's protecting, she would have already eaten the father.

Sadly she had to go as she was within the kids reach so...RIP Redback.

As a fellow sydney-sider I totally understand. My 19 month old has a spider obsession and they are all over the backyard, so ours too must go to spider heaven. Nice to meet you, stumbled upon your blog via Kootoyoo's my creative space. :)

I agree! Spiders are great until they get in your space! Sorry mumma redback!

That is a tiny red back. The kind we are use to seeing. We have moved to the Central Coast and OMGOLLY they are HUGE! We found 7 last week all within kids reach... scary stuff!!

I'd hate to have any bigger than this. Hope you can keep the kids all clear of them!
